BMC sends 200 Tonnes of Eid waste to Adampur

  • | Tuesday | 10th June, 2025

Continuing with a special sanitation drive for the second consecutive day on Sunday, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) teams collected 200 tonnes of bio waste and despatched it to the rendering plant at Adampur for conversion into fish and poultry feed. Officials said containers were placed at 110 spots across the city to manage the remains of sacrificial animals. Teams monitored key areas, especially near water bodies, to prevent improper dumping. A Rs 15,000 fine was issued for violations. Sanitation Supervisor Imtiyaz Khan said his team worked continuously, with all waste from the first day already processed. On Sunday, over 250 people were stopped from disposing of waste incorrectly. This marks the first time all slaughter waste is being directed to a rendering plant. These plants process animal remains—bones, fat, and hides—into feed for poultry and fish using high-heat treatment. Mayor Malti Rai confirmed the Adampur facility is Madhya Pradeshs first of its kind. Earlier, waste was buried, but now its collected from slaughterhouses and storage points for proper treatment. Containers will remain in designated areas for three days. Chemicals have also been provided to manage odour and hygiene. The system covers all zones and temporary points across the city. In Ward-83 of Zone 18, Dr Rishabh Gupta was penalised for openly dumping biomedical waste. BMC staffers imposed the Rs 15,000 fine as part of a zero-tolerance policy.
