Workshop held to fix regulatory hurdles

  • | Friday | 20th June, 2025

A joint workshop was held in Indore on Thursday to identify regulatory bottlenecks and gather suggestions for improving the ease of doing business in Madhya Pradesh. The session was organised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India, along with MPIDC Indore. It focused on understanding the obstacles in the current regulatory framework and exploring possible solutions. Over 50 participants — including industrialists, business owners and startup representatives — attended. Speakers included DPIIT Deputy Secretary Dr Jeevisha Joshi and MPIDC Executive Director Himanshu Prajapati. The workshop was split into two sessions: one on business location readiness and another on market competition, both based on new benchmarking approaches developed by the World Bank. Dr Joshi shared insights into how the World Bank assesses these components. Attendees also filled out questionnaires, which DPIIT will use to develop over 1,000 FAQs for guiding investors. The initiative aims to help foreign investors better understand local processes. It is also expected to feed into broader reforms in the regulatory environment for businesses in Madhya Pradesh. MPIDCs Prajapati urged participants to suggest specific changes. He also highlighted the states single-window system and Invest Portal, which aim to simplify services for investors.
