Man gets lifer for murder following liquor party dispute

In a significant verdict, the court of 25th Additional Sessions Judge Prahlad Singh Kamethia has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of his neighbor during a drunken brawl in Bhopals Nishatpura area. The convict, Rambabu Ahirwar, was found guilty of murdering 45-year-old Sardar Singh on the night of October 5, 2022. The court imposed life imprisonment under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with a fine of Rs 2,000. Additionally, Rambabu was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 1,000 under Section 307 IPC for attempting to murder another individual during the same incident. According to the prosecution, the incident occurred during a late-night liquor party at Rambabus residence. A quarrel broke out around 11 p.m. between Rambabu and his friend Prakash, which was initially defused. However, the argument resumed and escalated at around 2 a.m. When neighbors Sardar Singh and his son Manish tried to intervene, Rambabu reportedly flew into a rage and attacked Sardar Singh with a sharp knife, delivering a fatal blow to his chest. Singh succumbed to his injuries at Peoples Hospital. The complainant, Narmada Prasad, who also attempted to stop the altercation, was seriously injured by Rambabu and later treated at Bhopal Memorial Hospital. Nishatpura police registered a case of murder and attempted murder soon after the incident. The case was pursued with detailed investigation and strong witness testimonies, leading to Rambabus conviction. Legal experts have hailed the courts ruling as a stern message against violent crimes, emphasizing that such acts will be met with the full force of the law.
