A mass yoga session will be held at the Kamalapati Palace on Saturday morning, celebrating International Day of Yoga with the theme Yoga for One Earth, One Health. Participants will perform asanas, pranayama, meditation and mudras within the ramparts of the historic palace. The event aims to promote holistic wellbeing and environmental harmony through yoga, combining physical practice with mindfulness. Across Bhopal district, government health institutions will also organise yoga gatherings. Dr Manish Sharma, chief medical and health officer, said citizens can register via the Yoga Sangam portal and join at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Madhya Pradesh will host similar events at ten major tourist sites, including Amarkantak, Gwalior, Mandu, Sanchi and Khajuraho. These settings blend natural beauty and heritage with the healing practice of yoga. Earlier this week, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav reviewed state-wide preparations. Yoga events are scheduled for every urban ward and rural panchayat, making it a truly grassroots celebration. The General Administration Department has asked district collectors to coordinate with Patanjali Yogpeeth, MP Yoga Commission and Heartfulness Institute to ensure well-managed nd inclusive sessions. Yoga Day was first celebrated in 2015 following a United Nations resolution initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. June 21, the summer solstice, represents balance, strength and energy—core to yogic philosophy. Officials say this years theme is especially relevant in the wake of the pandemic, highlighting how personal wellbeing is inseparable from the planets health and ecological balance.
