A shocking case of extortion has emerged from the Ashoka Garden area where a property dealer received a threatening call demanding Rs 25 lakh. Acting promptly on the victims complaint, the police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation, leading to the arrest of the accused. According to Town Inspector Anurag Lal, the complainant, Mohammad Mateen, a resident of Mayur Vihar Colony, has been active in the property business for several years. Before entering the real estate sector, Mateen had partnered with the accused, Mohammad Faiz, in the auto dealing business. However, after suffering financial losses in the auto business, the two went their separate ways. Despite their split, resentment began brewing in Faiz after he saw Mateens success in the property business. Financially struggling, Faiz had reportedly borrowed Rs 5.25 lakh from Mateen over time. Driven by jealousy and desperation, Faiz allegedly decided to extort Rs 25 lakh from Mateen by threatening him over the phone. He warned Mateen of severe consequences if the money was not paid. Faizs plan unraveled when Mateen decided to approach the police, leading to a swift investigation. Using the mobile number from which the threats were made, the police were able to identify and arrest Faiz. During questioning, it was revealed that the two had once been close friends and business partners. Faiz has been sent to jail. This incident highlights how financial struggles and personal grievances can escalate into criminal behavior, even among former business partners. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to examine the full extent of Faizs actions.
