It stated this in a report submitted before the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) last month.The AIIMS filed the action taken a report after getting a notice from the NCST. The commission had issued the notice after hearing a petition filed by rights activist and lawyer Radhakanta Tripathy on February 19 this year. He had prayed the rights panel not to discharge the twins from the AIIMS New Delhi till they get declared fit.The AIIMS submitted its reply before the NCST challenging the petition and rejoinder filed by the petitioner. “I got the notice from the commission on Tuesday. It has sought a reply from me within 30 days over the AIIMS report. I will submit my reply by September 20,” said Tripathy.The AIIMS report stated that the condition of Kalia has improved now. He is receiving a normal diet and physiotherapy can be done by his parents or attendants. The report states that there is no politics between the state and Centre with regard to the financial aid as mentioned by Tripathy in his rejoinder mentioning the amount refunded to the state by the AIIMS.“Out of Rs 1 crore, around Rs 25 lakh have been spent by the AIIMS Delhi and rest refunded to the state government. As a goodwill gesture, the AIIMS has exempted certain expenses,” said Tripathy quoting the report.The report also states that medicals in Odisha including the AIIMS Bhubaneswar are well-equipped to take care of the twins. “We shall be happy to provide guidance or care to these children at the suitable point of time for their best outcome. A team of doctors from Odisha can visit to inquire the condition of both the children at AIIMS, Delhi,” said the report signed by a panel of doctors.The twins from Kandhamal district were separated on October 25 last year.
