SBI to open six new branches in Odisha

SBI chairman Rajnish Kumar told media persons here on Monday.“Things are changing fast. Development of technology and online banking has made the banking system easy. But we will open branches wherever we need. We have business correspondents in remote areas to help rural people,” said Kumar.At present, the SBI has 883 branches in the state. Out of these branches, 522 are in rural centres, 184 in semi-urban centres and 177 branches in urban areas. The bank has 2854 ATMs generating more than 2.5 crore transactions every month with an average hit of over 278 transactions per day per ATM. Official sources said 50 per cent of the total population in Odisha deals with the SBI.Kumar launched SBI’s wealth business services by opening ‘Wealth Hub’ at the bank’s main branch in the city. This hub will offer best-in-class personalized banking and investment services to its elite high net worth individuals (HNI) clients of the state through a dedicated team of relationship managers. It became the 95th wealth hub in the country. The bank has set a target to open 50 such hubs in the country by 2020, he added.Through the hubs, the HNI customers will also have the flexibility to invest, transact and view their portfolio, through digital channels such as internet and mobile banking. Specialized staff of the bank will deal with these valuable customers, said the bank official sources.Kumar, who addressed the gathering at the ‘Make In Odisha’ conclave in the morning, said his bank will help the state to get two third of the total capital requirement for the investments. “You have to just worry about one third of the capital requirement, SBI can arrange two third of it,” he said addressing chief minister Naveen Patnaik at the conclave.“We are ready to support each and every segment of the society including corporate sectors, farmers and traders,” said Kumar.
