BHUBANESWAR: Policemen and women have populated many a Bollywood film often as strict harbingers of law and order, sometimes as pawns in the game and a few times as agents of corruption. Now, these immortal law enforcers of Hindi cinema will play a big role in the day of the real life police personnel of Keonjhar , thanks to a new themed canteen that will be thrown open for the men and women in uniform on Monday.Lifesize paintings of various police characters and iconic scenes of famous films that have often drawn prolonged whistles in movie halls have been depicted on the walls of the open-air 'Cops Bollywood Canteen'. Those serving the Keonjhar police could not be happier.The canteen is located in the reserve police line adjoining a renovated pond, a children's park and a temple.Superintendent of police (Keonjhar) Jay Narayan Pankaj said apart from serving snacks and beverages, the canteen will provide a hangout space for police personnel who often lead a rigorous and routine life. The canteen also highlights the longstanding relationship between police characters and Bollywood," Pankaj told TOI.For every figure of a policeman, there is a firebrand policewoman depicted as a picture of resolve.The painted characters have been chosen in such a manner that both young and older generations of law enforcers can find images to identify with around the canteen. For every figure of a policeman, there is a firebrand policewoman depicted as a picture of resolve.Visible among the paintings is sub-inspector Anant Welankar played by Om Puri in Ardh-Satya, inspector Vijay played by Amitabh Bachhan in Zanjeer, inspector Durga Devi Singh of Andha-Kanoon which starred Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar's famous inspector Thakur Baldev Singh in Sholay, inspector Baji Rao Singham played by Ajay Devgn in Singham, ASP Vikram Rathod played by Akshay Kumar in Rowdy Rathod and - much to the joy of the young people in the forces - officer Chulbul Pandey played by Salman Khan in Dabangg.Police is planning to open canteen for general public as well.The canteen is located in the reserve police line adjoining a renovated pond, a children's park and a temple.
