Man held for raping girl in Gajapati

BERHAMPUR: Police on Monday arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in a village under Gajapati district 's R Udayagiri police station about one-and-a-half months ago. "We have registered a rape case against Nayak at R Udayagiri police station. Both the accused and the survivor were sent for medical examination.The accused would be produced before the court after medical examination, said sub-divisional police officer (SDPO), R Udayagiri, Anil Kumar Pradhan . When no solution came out, the girl approached the police two days ago. Police said the incident took place on October 3 when the accused forcibly raped the girl while she was going to take bath in the village pond.

Police said the incident took place on October 3 when the accused forcibly raped the girl while she was going to take bath in the village pond. The matter was discussed in the village. When no solution came out, the girl approached the police two days ago. "We have registered a rape case against Nayak at R Udayagiri police station. Further investigation is on," said the SDPO.
