Koraput: An aspirant from Congress filed his nomination as a candidate of the party on Wednesday despite not having been given a ticket yet.Chandra Sekhar Majhi, the incumbent MLA of Kotpad in Koraput district, which falls under the Nabarangpur Lok Sabha seat, filed his nomination before the returning officer at Jeypore in Koraput district on Wednesday. He filed his nomination as a Congress candidate.“During scrutiny of the nomination papers, I will submit the party ticket. I am the lone contender from Congress for the Kotpad assembly seat and the party has promised me a ticket,” said Majhi when asked on his decision.In the first list published by Congress on Monday, the party did not nominate anyone for the Kotpad assembly seat. Party sources said the likelihood of Majhi getting a ticket was high.Congress working president Pradeep Majhi, who filed his nomination for the Nabarangpur (ST) Lok Sabha seat before the returning officer in Nabarangpur on Wednesday, said the Kotpad MLA would surely get a ticket. “It is almost confirmed, there is just a delay in announcement.”“We will go to the people with issues such as the chit fund scam, rising unemployment and the distress sale of paddy. I am hopeful that this time Congress will wrest the Nabarangpur LS seat from BJD,” said Pradeep, who had represented Nabarangpur in the Lok Sabha from 2009-2014.Pradeep was accompanied by Kawasi Lakma, excise minister of neighbouring Chhattisgarh and the MLAs of Jagdalpur and Bastar assembly segments. He will have a direct contest with BJD’s Ramesh Chandra Majhi, who replaced sitting MP Balabhadra Majhi.
