Bhubaneswar: The value of Union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram’s immovable assets has more than tripled in the past five years while that of his wife has gone up four times, according to the affidavit filed with the Election Commission of India on Tuesday.Jual’s annual income was Rs 8.68 lakh in 2014-15 which has jumped to Rs 13.23 lakh in 2018-19. Similarly, his wife, Jhingia’s annual income has gone up from Rs 4.47 lakh in 2014-15 to Rs 7.60 lakh now.In 2014, the value of Jual’s immovable assets was Rs 90 lakh which has now gone up to Rs 2.74 crore. Immovable assets of his wife Jhingia, a housewife, have jumped from Rs 50 lakh in 2014 to Rs 2.03 crore now.Apart from an increase in market value of the existing properties, the minister and his wife have acquired three new housing properties with a combined worth of Rs 1.80 crore.The affidavit shows Jual and his wife bought two flats at Lumbini Enclave in Bhubaneswar on September 26 last year at a price of Rs 62 lakh and Rs 63 lakh, respectively. In July last year, Jual had bought another flat in New Delhi for Rs 55 lakh. The duo had availed bank loans to buy these properties.Jual has Rs 80 lakh cash in hand while his wife has Rs 50 lakh. In 2014, both had Rs 50 lakh each.
