Odisha Govt organized Photography competition exhibition 2019 Disability Awareness Film Festival

To celebrate this day Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Govt. of Odisha organized Photography competition & exhibition 2019 & Disability Awareness Film Festival 2019 at IDCOL Auditorium, Bhubaneswar. Mr Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, Secretary, Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Govt. On this occasion Disability awareness film festival 2019 is also being held at IDCOL Auditorium. Students of more than 20 Educational institutions will join us to watch the films on disability during the 2 days festival.

Bhubaneswar: World Disabled Day is observed every year on 3 December. Also known as “International Day of Persons with Disabilities”, the day aims to promote an awareness of disability issues and the fundamental rights of persons with disabilities. To celebrate this day Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Govt. of Odisha organized Photography competition & exhibition 2019 & Disability Awareness Film Festival 2019 at IDCOL Auditorium, Bhubaneswar. Mr Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma, Secretary, Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability, Govt. of Odisha, Smt Bratati Harichandan, Director, Department of Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability along with other delegates, participants and students from different institutions were present at the inaugural ceremony held today. Photos based on disability are being showcased in this exhibition. Photographers from all over Odisha have sent their photos for this competition. Top 3 photos will be selected and the winners will be awarded. On this occasion Disability awareness film festival 2019 is also being held at IDCOL Auditorium. SSEPD Department has received 70 short films from film directors from all over India & 7 feature films to be screened which are based on disability. Audio described films for blind people & also films for hearing impaired people screened during the Film Festival. This festival will continue from 2nd to 3rd December 2019 from 10am to 5pm. Short films like, I am able, Samarthya, Swabhiman, Mu bi Ssakhyama, Urbashi, Sakuntala, Attitude, Autobala, Xhoti Soch, Deaf and Dump, Do before you die, Love shots, Lets Bicycle Together, Odisha Inner eye by Jitendra Sethi, One Feet, Stand for Respect and What I Feel movie is being scheduled to screened. Students of more than 20 Educational institutions will join us to watch the films on disability during the 2 days festival. It is important to integrate disabled persons in the main stream of society. Disabled persons are often discriminated against and that is never an ideal condition. Society must take adequate steps to involve persons with disabilities in the main stream of each aspect of the social, political, economic and cultural status of their communities.
