2 die, 7 hurt as van hits roadside tree

Two persons were killed and seven others injured when a Tata AC van hit a roadside tree near Nakajhari village under the Ghatagaon police on the Tara-Barahatipura road on Thursday afternoon.   The mishap occurred when a group of people were returning from the Kalimati Dam after a picnic.           Sources said some staffs of an ice cream trading company had gone to the Kalimati Dam for the picnic. When they were returning to Ghatagaon, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and hit a roadside tree.   Two persons Sayed Khan (42) of Jamunagar of Jharkhand and Abhimanu Patra (53) of Binajhari village of Ghatagaon block died on the spot.   Getting information, police and Fire Service personnel reached the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to the Ghatgaon Community Health Centre.   Later, the critically injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.   Police seized the vehicle and began investigation to ascertain the cause of the accident.
