  • | Saturday | 17th February, 2024

: Over 150 persons including women and children whose land has been acquired for Nalco in Angul district have been on a dharana at the Lower PMG for the last 15 days as the company has backed out of all its promises to them. Alleging that they have been facing apathy from the company, they demanded all the benefits promised to them during land acquisition. Notably, for the last 16 years more than 500  deprived families are in helpless condition as the State Government had acquired land for the public sector company in Gopiballavpur under Barapada GP near Kosala of Chhendipada block of Angul district. As per RPDAC norms and Government rules, Nalco promised to give 520 square feet fully furnished house to each member of the land losers families, besides a job. But. Nothing happened all these years. On Thursday afternoon, former Finance Minister Panchanan Kanungo and activist Deviprasad Prusti met the agitating people, expressing their solidarity with them.
