9 members of inter-State gang held

The Commissionerate police have busted an inter-State gang allegedly involved in a series of burglaries in apartments in Bhubaneswar. The special squad of police arrested nine members of the gang on Thursday. The cops also seized four motorbikes and a huge cache of gold and silver ornaments from the accused. Police seized nearly 1 kg of gold and silver ornaments and cash of Rs 3.20 lakh. Police said the accused are involved in several loot cases at different places in the capital city. After committing the crimes, the accused used to flee to Chhattisgarh or Mumbai where they enjoyed a lavish life by spending the booty.    Commissioner of Police Sanjeeb Panda said, As many as nine members of the gang have so far been arrested. The mastermind of the gang has been identified as Dada Girish Illiyash Naik, who is involved in two murder cases. After interrogation, it was revealed that they have committed four burglaries in the Mancheswar area and six similar cases in other parts of Bhubaneswar. Panda added that one of the accused has been identified as hardcore criminal Bulu Patra, who has over 40 criminal cases pending against him in Ganjam. Bulu looted over 8 kg of gold ornaments from a jewellery shop in 2015.
