`Odias need to be self-reliant in all spheres`

The Central University of Odisha (CUO), Koraput, marked the Shastriya Odia Bhasha Divas with fervor and enthusiasm at its Subaneda campus, on March 11.   The Department of Odia Language and Literature held a seminar titled "Odia Bhashara Shastriya Manyata O Amara Dayitwa," which attracted distinguished scholars and intellectuals.   CUO Vice-Chancellor Prof Chakradhar Tripathi inaugurated the event. Former Principal of Upendranath College, Baleswar, Dr Ramakant Behera delivered the keynote address, while Dean of the School of Languages Prof NC Panda attended as a distinguished guest.   Head of the Department of Odia Language and LiteratureDr Rudrani Mohanty extended a warm welcome and provided insights into the programmes agenda.   In his address, Prof Tripathi underscored the significance of self-reliance for Odishas progress in all spheres. He advocated for the introduction of Diploma and Certificate programmes in the Shastriya Odia language for non-Odia speakers to promote its wider adoption.   Dr Behera shed light on the classical foundations of the Odia language during the event. Furthermore, he advocated for embracing linguistic diversity while ensuring the preservation of Odias distinct identity.   Prof Panda eloquently portrayed the essence of Shastra and language, drawing parallels from the Vedas.
