The Cuttack police have arrested the kingpin of an inter-State arms smuggling racket from Bihar. The arrested was identified as Golden Singh (34). A special team of the Commissionerate police with the help of Bihar Special Task Force (STF) seized two guns and a mobile phone from the possession of the accused. Singh was in touch with several criminals from Cuttack, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur and Jharsuguda districts in Odisha and was supplying firearms to them, said Cuttack DCP Kanwar Vishal Singh on Sunday. After interrogating Singh, police nabbed Wasim Khan (25), a member of the inter-State arms smuggling racket, from Mangalabag in Cuttack city and seized a country made gun from him. Preliminary investigations revealed that Khan was procuring guns from Singh and supplying them to other criminal gangs, police said. Notably, the Jagatpur police in Cuttack had busted an inter-State arms smuggling racket on March 11 and arrested three persons in this connection. The police had seized four guns and 12 bullets from accused Prakash Behera, Pyari Mohan Das and Mihir Kumar Ray. While investigating the case, the police came to know that the trio was procuring illegal firearms from Munger in Bihar. A special team of the Commissionerate police led by ACP Arun Swain and Sub-Inspector Sunil Yadav went to Bihar and nabbed Singh.
