Cong ticket aspirant Debasmita gets active in Aul

: Though the BJD and BJP have announced their candidates for the Aul Assembly constituency, the Congress is yet to name its party candidate. However, in hope of getting a Congress ticket in the ensuing poll from Aul, Dr Debasmita Sharma, daughter of former MLA Debendra Sharma, has started her poll campaign in a unique way. And, she got a positive response from the voters too.   Debasmita, a physician by profession, has been campaigning with her supporters by walking from door to door by holding a note-sheet, a ball pen in her hand and putting a stethoscope around her neck. Whenever she finds a patient during her campaigning, she checks him/her on the spot and prescribes medicines. Such a unique style of campaigning not only wins the hearts of the voters but creates a positive vibe.   Respecting the sentiments of Congress supporters and my father, I tendered my resignation from my job and am willing to contest this election, stated Dr Debasmita, adding, I worked at Aul CHC for two and a half years and later, was transferred to Koraputs Kotapad CHC for 10 months and subsequently, at Kandiahaat for one year, before I resigned from the job.   When asked how she chose such a unique style of campaign, Dr Debasmita stated, My late grandfather, Dr Dibakar Nath Sharma, who is the former MLA of Aul, used to take a stethoscope, BP and other medicines on a bag with him whenever he went for poll campaign. He used to treat patients during his poll campaign. So, I have been inspired by him,   Again, when asked being a newbie in politics how she would face the veteran Pratap Keshari Deb, who is contesting the poll from Aul on BJD ticket, she stated Deb belongs to the royal family. If he wins the poll then he would rule the people, but I win, being the granddaughter and daughter of two peoples leaders, I would only serve the people, she said humbly.
