  • | Monday | 22nd April, 2024

As many as 17 students of the Government College of Engineering, Keonjhar, have been infected with jaundice at a hostel.   A medical team visited the Gandhamardan Hall of Residence, where the cases were reported, on Friday for inspection of the quality of food cooked at the hostel canteen and water being supplied to the college hostel.   Although no infected student has been hospitalised so far, the patients have been sent to their respective places after they complained of some sort of health complications.   Around 5-6 days back, we found one student was suffering from jaundice. Subsequently, 17 students developed symptoms related to jaundice. A medical team visited yesterday and collected the students blood samples and water samples for clinical examination. However, no student has been admitted to the hospital so far. Most of the students have gone to their homes after being infected with jaundice, said Ajay Dehury, the hostel supervisor.
