Champua residents threaten to boycott vote

  • | Monday | 22nd April, 2024

Locals of Champua NAC have threatened to boycott the coming elections on May 25. In this regard, on Thursday, a group of people submitted a memorandum to the Chief Secretary through Sub Collector, Champua at his office.   Sources revealed that in the year 2016, two Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) had been sanctioned for Keonjhar district during the tenure of BJD MP from Keonjhar Shakuntal Laguri from 2014 to 2019, one for Champua Subdivision and another for Anandapur Subdivision. In the meanwhile, Anandur KV has already started from 2019-20, but Champua school could not start due to failure of the district administration to provide the required land.   In the initial stage, a land was identified at Ramla village under Champua NAC but as there was shortage of land as per CBSE standard, the district administration selected the location at Kalikaprasad village by the side of State Highway, some 10 km distance from Champua. But local people of Champua NAC have been objecting to the proposed school at Kalikaprasad and demanding it to be set up at Ramla village.
