Mohan-Modi 'love at the time of cholera' as PM plays bagpipe role in Bhubaneswar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing in Bhubaneswar described the day June 20 as a very ‘special one’ for the reason that the Mohan Charan Majhi government in Odisha completed one year of its rule.

What is interesting that now-a-days, more so, after the Pahalgam killings, Modi without hyphenating his words much, has developed a habit of dwelling in a world of rhetorical fence mending so that the ghost of the recent happenings do not allow people recapitulate the past pains anywhere in India. Or even outside India regardless of their mental impact among Indians.

Indoctrination somewhere!

It happened so that I visited my relatives on Friday, during my tour to a place called Angul. During several discussions I was told by all my relatives there, that all that politics going on around Operation Sindoor, post Pahalgam killings, was a manufactured lie by the Congress and Modi cannot be wronged for anything. Even not for the Plane crash in Ahmedabad and sustained propaganda is going on by the Congress to malign the PM who, according to the truth on the ground, is indispensable for India.

Such mental make-ups of people in general allude at the premise of falsehood the nation is forced to believe.      Majhi completed his one year rule on June 12 2025  on and Majhi started his rule on June 12 2024 in Odisha. On the other hand, Modi completed his first year as PM for the third time at the same time.

Modi in his speech in Bhubaneswar and his body language during the road show kept interpolating things with a pathetic cut from many realities at the bottom where the majority lives.

His speech was long and exhaustive or say laborious in a climate of terrible unease due to heat conditions so, it were mainly the ‘bhaktas’ who were carefully organised for the events on June 20.

Most of Modi’s utterances were not much different than what his man in Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi has been heard parroting since June 5 this year.

Modi talked about his telephonic conversation with Donald Trump and according to a PIB release Modi was invited by Trump for a lunch but the former declined the invitation on the ground of his pre-scheduled visit to the land of Lord Jagannath in Odisha.

“One does not know if his such statement on American President’s invite to Washington for lunch was politically warranted or not during a state visit sounds a bit quizzical” said Rabi Das, Senior political analyst and added that “given the news making round that Trump had invited the Pakistani Military chief Munir hours before leaving Canada summit raises the question that either Trump had invited Modi as a second thought or had not invited at all”

Cholera outbreak

Six districts in Odisha are in the grip of a Cholera outbreak since more than a week and several people are battling with death and more than seven persons have died of it.

The celebrations of one year in power by Majhi has been organized in the sullen backdrop of several failures although it is a different matter that Majhi has started  beating the drums of slew of achievements in the last one year which has raised eyebrows among political observers.

“ There is no such silver line left  by Mohan Majhi in one year because the bottom realities reveal a number of failures. Mainly the law and order in the last one year has taken a nosedive when one looks at atrocities against women, often touching the national rankings of 7 %” said Kameswar Rao, Senior journalist.

And he added that “ Inflation, unemployment and many other poll promises are unfulfilled. Perhaps, the ongoing celebrations are like topping on a cake only to keep people engaged with the optics”.

Irony is that, the Majhi government started its celebrations, almost from June 6 2025 amid cries of women from several parts of the state. In the middle of the pompous events hardly anyone could notice three consecutive beastly rapes that took place in Gopalpur sea beach in Ganjam district on 16th June, or hanging body of a minor tribal girl from a tree in Kaonjhar district, a case of gang rape and murder on 17th June or on June 18 the gang rape and murder of a married woman in Baripada in Mayurbhanj district.

In ,another shocking crime has been reported from the state, this time in Keonjhar district. A 17-year-old girl was found hanged after she was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed in Keonjhar district, the home ground of Majhi .

Yet the celebrations went on and Majhi was engaged in a chest beating on the issue of curbing crime against women in the state.

Sadly, according to the National Crime Record Bureau(NCRB) data the Majhi dispensation carries on with the tainted legacy of seven rapes in a day in the state from 2022.

“Even at the corruption front the present government could do little on the much talked about Ponzi and mining scam. People who had invested in Ponzi scam which has been haunting them for years have not been able to get any justice” opined Rabi Das, political analyst who has taken the Ponzi issue to the apex court.

June 12

June 12 may be a day when all the good and bad things happened yet there was hardly any sign of remorse from the political fraternity here. Odisha government did not think it prudent to hold back the celebrations of the anniversary as a gesture of homage for the people who died in the crash in Ahmedabad.
