BRIFFLY Chandigarh: Cardiologists, researchers and pathologists from across the country shared their experiences during the 15th annual conference of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR), Indian chapter, at the Bhargava auditorium in the PGIMER. The prestigious PL Wahi oration was delivered by Dr DK Bahl, Professor, cardiology, AIIMS, New Delhi. He talked about advances in stenting in India. The inaugural function was held on Saturday evening. Prof Valiathan, a renowned cardio-thoracic surgeon, was the chief guest. He is also the recipient of the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. Prof Jagat Ram, Director, PGI, presided over the function. The president, Dr KK Talwar, and the secretary, ISHR, Indian chapter, addressed the gathering, highlighting activities of the society. Lifetime achievement awards were given to Dr NK Ganguly and Dr NS Dhalla. TNS Registration of left-out vendors Panchkula: The Panchkula Municipal Corporation will now hold a camp for the vendors, who failed to register themselves with it, from February 19 to 24. TNS Mystery shrouds man’s death Mohali: A 30-year-old man died under mysterious circumstances at his rented accommodation in Mohali village on Saturday morning. The deceased has been identified as Naseer, a native of Meerut. Police sources said the victim shared the accommodation with two others. The police said the family members of the victim were informed and the body had been kept at the mortuary in Civil Hospital, Phase VI. nvestigating officer ASI Ranjit Singh said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the victim suffered a heart attack. However, the cause of death can only be established after the post-mortem examination.” TNSRopar: To promote the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, the district administration organised a marathon in town on Saturday. More than 7,000 people took part in the marathon. Starting from the mini-secretariat, the marathon passed through various parts of town before concluding at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Park. Among women, Kuldeep Kaur, Razia Begum and Geeta bagged the first, second and third spots, respectively.
