27 flights cancelled, only 3 leave airport on Day 2

All 32 flights were cancelled on Thursday.According to airport spokesperson Deepesh Joshi, only two flights in domestic sector and one on the international sector managed to operate. A SpiceJet flight departed for Delhi on time, while an Air India flight left for Kullu 32 minutes late.The Air India Bangkok flight departed at 3pm and was routed through Delhi. Joshi said flights connecting the city with Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Pune, Leh, Srinagar, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Indore were cancelled. Many passengers said they were not aware of the fact that the flights have been cancelled due to bad weather on day two as well. IndiGo cancelled seven flights, Jet Airways eight, Air India five, Go Air three and Vistara, Air Asia and SpiceJet one flight each, said Joshi.Many passengers sought refund of their tickets. Gautam Jain, a city resident while standing in a queue for cancellation of air ticket, said, “In the morning, the airline’s website mentioned the flight is scheduled, but when we came here, we learnt all flights have been cancelled. Now, it is a waste of time for us to first get tickets refunded and then arrange for transport to reach Delhi. We were to fly to Bangalore.”The IndiGo Dubai flight operated from Delhi as passengers were taken from Chandigarh to the national capital via road, said an IndiGo spokesperson.A Ludhiana resident, who had come to board a flight to Dubai, said he was unaware about the cancellation. He said, “Just before check-in, we were informed that the flight has been cancelled. We were told we would be taken to Delhi to board the flight. It was very poor management.”Passengers alleged the flight carriers failed to inform them about the cancellation beforehand. Many passengers said they were not aware of the fact that the flights have been cancelled due to bad weather on day two as well.
