CHANDIGARH: A Facebook page has been formed to seek a "fair investigation" into the death of Deutsche Lufthansa AG air-hostess Anissia Batra (39). Daughter of Chandigarh's Sector 36 resident Maj Gen R S Batra (retd), Anissia was found dead at her in-laws' Panchsheel Park residence in New Delhi after a fall from the balcony of her room on July 13.By Tuesday evening, the page, "Justice for Anissia", had received support from 2,400 users on the social-media platform. Many people on the page expressed disbelief over a financially independent, educated woman killing herself. A member of the page, Sana Farooqui, who knew Anissia personally, described her as a "strong woman who would never take a step like that". "Please stop saying that she jumped," she wrote on the page. The page, comprising many from the Army and Tricity, has also been posting updates about the case. Apart from this, the family has started a petition on the website, Change.org , to seek a fair probe. The plea has been addressed to the home minister Rajnath Singh , and Delhi Police commissioner.Although Anissia died on July 13 and her father had earlier submitted a complaint at Hauz Khas police station on June 26, saying that her husband, Mayank Singhvi, and his family would be solely responsible in case of any physical harm to his daughter, Delhi Police arrested the accused only on Monday.S A Shay, another member of the page who knew Anissia, said he was "absolutely shocked" to know about her death. "(She was) such a beautiful young soul," he wrote. The family has been claiming that Anissia could not have jumped to her death and that she was killed. A Chandigarh resident and Anissia's colleague at Lufthansa, Vandita Sharma, called the deceased air-hostess a "fighter". "It's heartbreaking. We will make sure she gets justice," she wrote.Anissia's brother, Karan, who works in Bengaluru, has already claimed that the police had been going easy on the Singhvi family because they were politically influential, and this allowed the accused to destroy evidence in the case.
