CHANDIGARH: The district and sessions court on Wednesday granted bail to the government schoolteacher, who was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy, who studied in Class X and took tuitions from the accused.The boy and the woman teacher lived in the same locality.The court of additional district and sessions judge Poonam R Joshi directed the teacher to furnish bail bonds of Rs 50,000. In her bail plea, the teacher claimed that she was falsely implicated in the case.On May 24, she was arrested after a lot of drama. She was booked under Section 6 (Punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Pocso Act.It was alleged that the teacher had been sexually abusing the minor since March.The matter had come to light on May22 when the boy’s parents went to the teacher to discontinue his tuitions due to his poor academic performance. Though she tried to convince them not to do so, the parents did not agree to her requests. Then the tuition teacher became aggressive and locked the boy in a room of her house. She also allegedly claimed that she could not live without the boy.Later, the boy’s parents sought neighbours’ help to rescue the child. When cops were called, the teacher rushed to the boy’s home and drank cough syrup. But police reached the spot and took her to a hospital.As the case was taken up with the child helpline, the boy revealed to counsellors how he was sexually assaulted for the past few months. It was also found the teacher used to chat with the boy daily and had a given a SIM card to the boy for the purpose.
