PANCHKULA: A Class XI student was murdered outside a government school in Sector 7 in a juvenile crime on Monday. Vikas Kumar (16), a resident of Railla village, Sector 12, stepped out after the school ended around 2.30pm.Around 10-15 boys dressed in ITI college dresses were waiting for him. They surrounded Vikas and one of them stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon, police said. As Vikas fell down, the accused fled in their vehicles. Teachers took Vikas to General Hospital, Sector 6, where he was declared brought dead. Doctors said the wound punctured the heart of the victim and caused sudden death. Police said old rivalry was the likely motive behind the murder. Police sources said all the person involved in the murder are minors and they killed him over an old rivalry. Students said Vikas had a heated exchange with a Class IX student a couple of days back. The student might have called his friends to attack him, they said.Assistant commissioner of police Noopur Bishnoi said “We have registered a case. We are scrutinising footage from CCTV cameras. Crime branch officials and the local police are on the lookout for the accused. They will be caught soon.”Bishnoi, Sector 5 police station house officer (SHO) inspector Arvind Kumar and crime investigation agency incharge inspector Aman Kumar visited the spot soon after getting the information.The victim’s relatives were also called to the murder site. On the complaint of the father of the victim, police registered a case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) against unknown person at the Sector 5 police station. Victim was the second youngest among three brothers and two sisters. He was living with his parents. His father works in a private factory, while mother is a housewife.
