We will not charge money from residents segregating garbage for two months,” said K K Yadav , municipal commissioner, after the decision was taken during the finance and contract committee (F&CC) meeting of the MC on Friday.Since charges vary according to the size of houses, they would be collected through water bills. Currently, no penalty charges will be imposed on residents for not segregating garbage. The MC will focus on running awareness campaigns and carry out initiatives. “We will make people aware about the issue of solid waste management policy, which includes segregation and other aspects, through awareness drives,” Yadav said.Earlier, the F&CC) accorded approval to hire 152 tractor trolleys and vehicles for doorto-door collection on emergency basis from commercial areas and households. The committee decided to lift horticulture waste from sectors and other parts of the city on every Sundays.The agenda items related to the approval of procurement of solution for spraying at dumping ground and purchase of three tractor trolleys for use in horticulture division have also been approved.
