Ambala gangrape: 3-day police remand for two

AMBALA: In connection with a case of gangrape after kidnapping a couple from their house in Ambala Cantonment, the district police so far have managed to arrest three accused. One of the accused was arrested on Thursday who is already undergoing a three-day police remand since Friday. Two more accused were arrested on Friday. The police produced them before the court, on Saturday, which sent them on three-day police remand.Investigation officer sub-inspector Bhushan Dass said, “All the arrested accused are relatives (from his ex-wife side) of the person who was kidnapped along with his present wife. We are interrogating them in police remand for the sequences of the alleged crime and also to recover the vehicles used in the crime. Due to the ongoing investigation, we cannot disclose much, but very soon we will complete the investigation and come forward with all the details.”Replying to a question about the medical examination of the arrested accused, Bhushan said, “So far, the medical process has not been conducted, and further action in this regard will be taken after the interrogation.”On Wednesday, Ambala police had registered a case under sections 323 (causing hurt), 365 (kidnapping) and 452 (house-trespass) against five accused with names, and later on Thursday the police team managed to find the kidnapped couple after they were dropped in Bahadurgarh by the kidnappers when they came to know that the police is chasing them. The couple after taking help from a passerby reached Panipat and informed the family members, who then called the cops.On Thursday, the police managed to make one arrest in this case and after the allegations of gangrape by the kidnapped woman the police added section 376D (gangrape) to the same First Information Report. The medical examination of the survivor woman and the recording of the statements before the duty magistrate were also done after framing the charges of gangrape.On Friday, the police teams managed to arrest two more accused in this case, who are taken on three-day police remand from the court on Saturday.
