20 khair trees stolen in Nada forest; no action

MOHALI: Around 20 senegalia catechu trees, popularly known as khair trees, were stolen from Nada forest area near Nayagaon.A complaint has been lodged with Nayagaon police station. The accused were seen transporting the trees in the CCTV footages.The incident took place on Sunday night when unidentified miscreants cut and stole trees from Nada forest area. They are also yet to go to the spot for investigation.The incident of stealing trees is recorded in CCTV cameras installed nearby. However, a week has been passed, but cops did not take any action in the matter.Inspector Gurwant Singh of Nayagaon station house officer (SHO), said: "We have received a complaint from the district forest official regarding the incident. The matter came to light when forest guards went patrolling.

However, a week has been passed, but cops did not take any action in the matter.Inspector Gurwant Singh of Nayagaon station house officer (SHO), said: "We have received a complaint from the district forest official regarding the incident. But we have yet to go to the spot to verify it."
