The Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, Parshant Goyal, and SSP Amneet Kondal presided over functions organised at the district level here today. They administered oath to all present on the occasion against use of drugs. Addressing a seminar at Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, the DC said, “Drug addiction is not a problem of a person or family. It is the problem of the entire society and a big challenge for all of us in the present scenario.

To create awareness among the people seminars were organised in educational institutions, rallies were taken out and various sports activities and competitions were organised to promote sport among youths in the district. The Deputy Commissioner, Fatehgarh Sahib, Parshant Goyal, and SSP Amneet Kondal presided over functions organised at the district level here today. They administered oath to all present on the occasion against use of drugs. Addressing a seminar at Mata Gujri College, Fatehgarh Sahib, the DC said, “Drug addiction is not a problem of a person or family. It is the problem of the entire society and a big challenge for all of us in the present scenario. If we don’t wage a war against drugs, it will become a curse for the present and future generations.” “A master plan has been prepared by the district administration for complete eradication of drugs and making it a public movement, wherein participation of all sections of society will be ensured,” he added. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Amneet Kondal, said, “The police have launched an aggressive campaign to eradicate the drugs menace, but without co-operation of the people nothing concrete can be achieved.” She called upon the public to share information about drug peddlers and addicts on her cell number and assured that the informer’s identity would be kept secret. Latter, the SSP flagged off an awareness rally in which drug addicts, who were being treated at de-addiction and rehabilitation centres and OOAT clinics, police personnel, the staff of Sanjh Kendras, DAPOs, members of taxi union, guardians of governance and the common people participated in large numbers.
