Mohali admn sounds high alert on rising Ghaggar water

Today, to assess water levels in Ghaggar river, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan today inspected vulnerable points of the river in Mohali district. The DC, who was accompanied by his team of officials of different departments, visited several spots including village Bhankharpur, Tiwana and Nagla in Dera Bassi area to see the water levels in the river. All officials in the area including 'patwaris'have been put on high alert. “The officials have been asked to ensure that the residents of villages do not have to face any sort of problem in the rainy season,” said Dayalan.

During the visit, Dayalan claimed that all adequate arrangements to meet any sort of situation and evacuation plan, in case of flood, have already been finalized and the sensitive places have been identified along with the safe places where the residents of flood prone areas would be shifted, if required. He added that a flood control room has been set up, which is fully functional. All officials in the area including 'patwaris'have been put on high alert. “The officials have been asked to ensure that the residents of villages do not have to face any sort of problem in the rainy season,” said Dayalan.
