Three of family get 7-yr jail for dowry death

Chandigarh, July 16A local court today awarded seven-year jail term to three members of a family in a case of dowry death. The victim, Kiran (20), was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26, in May last year. The court convicted her husband Gulshan, mother-in-law Santosh and brother-in-law Bunty under Section 304-B (dowry death) of the IPC. According to the complaint lodged in the case, Kiran had married Gulshan in 2017, about seven months before the incident happened. The victim’s father, Kailash, alleged that Kiran’s husband and her in-laws used to harass her for dowry.

According to the complaint lodged in the case, Kiran had married Gulshan in 2017, about seven months before the incident happened. It was a love marriage. The police said the victim was rushed to the GMSH-16 by her husband and his family. GMSH doctors declared her brought dead. The victim’s father, Kailash, alleged that Kiran’s husband and her in-laws used to harass her for dowry. — TNS
