‘Nationalisation of banks played pivotal role’

Patiala, July 21The Punjab unit of the All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) today celebrated the golden jubilee of nationalisation of banks here on Sunday. All India vice-president of the AIBOC, Deepak Sharma, and secretary Rajiv Sirhindi said members of the organisation have played an active role in framing the policy and its implementation. They said nationalisation of banks in 1969 gave a new dimension to the banking and played pivotal role in various pro-society programmes, including village adoption, irrigation, dispensation of credit for agriculture and small business, among others.
