PUNJABI VARSITY Patiala, August 16 Questions have been raised once again over transparency in admission process at Punjabi University. Reason: One of the five computer operations’ in-charge of the admission cell appeared in a PhD entrance test and ranked third. Sukhjinder Singh Buttar, assistant professor, who has been registered for a PhD at Department of Mechanical Engineering in 2014, appeared for the test for the session 2019-20. A professor said, “The official first became an incharge of computer operations at the admission cell and appeared for an entrance exam controlled by it. In such a scenario, the official concerned had direct access to question papers and answer keys.” Buttar said, “I stayed away from the entire PhD admission process as I was appearing for the entrance test. I had informed the admission cell about the same.” He said he was already registered for the PhD in 2014 and could appear for the test nevertheless. Dr Balwinder Singh Tiwana, coordinator, Admission Cell, said, “We did not provide him any access to the process of PhD entrance exam. He was kept away from it. People are deliberately making a fuss.” — TNS
