Injured man dies at PGI

According to the police, he was going towards Mammupur village, when he was knocked down by this motorcycle. He was taken to the Civil Hospital, Kharar, from a where he was referred to PGI Chandigarh. He died in the PGI on Monday. A case has been registered in this regard. TNS One booked under NDPS Act Kharar: The Kharar police have arrested Darshan Singh, a resident of Mundi Kharar, following the recovery of 10 intoxicant injections from his possession. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered. As per information received from SHO Kharar, Sarawjit Singh Cheema, the accused was coming on foot near Bhagat Ghat area. On seeing the police, he tried to escape. However, he was caught by the police and during search 10 intoxicating injections and syringes were recovered from them. OC Free OPDs,basic tests Patiala: The hospital run by the Gian Sagar Educational and Charitable Trust has decided to waive fee of the OPDs. All basic investigations for patients would be done free from August 21 onwards. A spokesman for the hospital said the decision had been taken by the management with a view to extend health services to the maximum number of people of the area. TNS Zirakpur: A 67-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan here on Monday night. The deceased has been identified as Puspa Gandhi, a resident of Baltana near Zirakpur. The police said the incident took place on Monday night when the woman, after having her dinner, went to her room and hanged herself. The family members found her body hanging on Tuesday morning and informed the police. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. The woman was mentally upset, the police said. OC Bid to throw drugs into jail Ambala: The police have arrested a local resident, Shubham, for trying to throw drugs into the Central Jail over the boundary wall and claimed to have recovered the contraband from him, officials said here on Tuesday. According to the police, the suspect was trying to throw ‘sulfa’ inside the jail by affixing it on a tennis ball over the prison’s boundary wall but the police caught hold of him along with the contraband. The suspect was produced before a court, which sent him to 14-day judicial custody. TNS Man held for raping minor Ambala: The district police have arrested Karan Kumar for raping a minor girl, officials said here on Tuesday. According to the police, a local resident reported to the police on August 16 that the suspect had raped his minor daughter on April 11. Acting on his complaint, the police had registered a rape case and arrested the suspect, who was on the run for over four months. He was sent to 14-day judicial custody. TNS Two arrested for assault Ambala: The police have arrested Manish and Vishal of Ambala Cantonment for assaulting and threatening two residents with dire consequences, officials said. According to the police, Neeraj of Ambala Cantonment had reported to the police on August 12 that the suspects had waylaid him and his friend near Peepal Wala Chowk on the Topkhana road in Panjokhra Sahib on August 10 and assaulted and threatened them with dire consequences. The suspects will be produced before a court on Wednesday. TNS Stray cattle claims life Dera Bassi: A 28-year-old youth was killed while his relative sustained injuries when their motorbike rammed into a stray cattle near Gholumajra village here on Monday night. The victim was identified as Mahinder Singh, a resident of Uttarakhand. The incident took place when Mahinder, along with his relative, was heading for Panchkula on his bike. When they reached near Gholumajra village, a stray cattle darted across the road and he rammed the bike into it. Mahinder fell off the bike. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but died on the way. OC Man arrested with ganja Chandigarh: The crime branch of the UT police has arrested a person with ganja. According to the police, Anmol, a resident of Maloya Colony, was arrested from near the auto stand in Maloya with 700 gm of ganja on Monday. A case has been registered. TNS Defused bomb found in P’kula Panchkula: Tension gripped the Morni area after a defused bomb was found on the road near a hotel on Tuesday. The police rushed to the site and informed Army officials. The Army officials, who took the bomb into their custody, said they would verify whether the bomb was defused or not. Meanwhile, the police are investigating as to how the bomb reached the Morni area. The police also informed officials of the Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory near Ramgarh, who said they did not have such bombs. TNS
