Chandigarh, August 22 Eshaant’s 25-point effort helped Panjab University campus register a 58-56 win over St John’s High School, Sector 26, in the opening match of the Junior State U-19 Basketball Championship at the Sector 42 Sports Complex here today. Aman contributed 23 points to the PU tally, while Kunal (16) and Anhad (12) scored a majority of points for St John’s. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Collegiate School (SGGCS), Sector 26, pulled off a 44-13 win over St Peter’s School, Sector 37. Pardeeep scored 12 points, while Ankush added 10 points to the SGGCS total. Vansh Grover (6) was the top scorer for St Peter’s School. Later in the day, SGGCS boys registered a 54-17 win over DC Montessori School, Mani Majra. Abhishek scored 14 points, while Mohit netted 12 points for SGGCS. Sacred Heart girls win In the girls’ category, Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, registered a 36-16 win over Gurukul Global School, Mani Majra. Ustat (16) and Paridhi (10) made useful contributions to the Sacred Heart tally, while Charvie (16) was the leading scorer for Gurukul School. Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, drubbed Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, 35-4. Kiranjeet scored 10 points for Carmel Convent. — TNS
