Auto passenger held for robbing driver’s phone

Near Sector 37, the passenger asked him to stop the auto. As soon as he halted the vehicle, the passenger started assaulting him. The suspect then allegedly punched the victim and snatched his phone before fleeing the spot. The police said they had initiated an investigation into the complaint and were scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in Sector 37.

Chandigarh, September 24 The police have arrested a man for robbing the driver of the auto, which he had hired, of his mobile phone here on Monday night. In a complaint to the police, Tejinder Singh of Raipur Khurd stated that a person had hired his auto for Dhanas from the Kisan Bhawan roundabout. Near Sector 37, the passenger asked him to stop the auto. As soon as he halted the vehicle, the passenger started assaulting him. He then robbed his phone and escaped. The police were informed about the incident. Acting swiftly on the call, cops managed to nab the suspect, who was identified as Nikhil Kumar. He was arrested. The robbed cellphone was recovered from him. Sector 37 resident robbed Another case of robbery was reported from Sector 37-D. Sources said the victim, Amandeep Singh, was parking his motorcycle inside his house when two Activa-borne miscreants reached there and one of them started demanding his mobile phone. The suspect then allegedly punched the victim and snatched his phone before fleeing the spot. The police said they had initiated an investigation into the complaint and were scrutinising the footage of CCTV cameras installed in Sector 37.
