Man dies at Sector 16 hospital, kin allege medical negligence

The relatives of the deceased alleged that he fell unconscious after an injection was administered to him and died after some time. On getting information, relatives and residents of the area reached the hospital and demanded an inquiry into the matter. In the meantime, local Congress leader Shashi Shanker Tiwari also reached the hospital and sought action against doctors responsible for the negligence. The hospital authorities told the attendants of the patient that if they want, they could get the post-mortem done from Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. Despite the best efforts by a team of doctors, the patient could not be revived.

Official marks inquiry, report to be submitted in 3 days Chandigarh, October 12 Irate family members and relatives of a 36-year-old resident of Ram Darbar, who died at Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, here, alleged negligence of doctors for the reason behind his death. According to information, the patient, identified as Rajdev Singh, came to the emergency of the hospital with his wife and sons early this morning with complaints of pain in the shoulder and arm. They also alleged that after the death of the patient, the staff kept the inpatient card with them and refused to hand it over to them even after asked for it. On getting information, relatives and residents of the area reached the hospital and demanded an inquiry into the matter. In the meantime, local Congress leader Shashi Shanker Tiwari also reached the hospital and sought action against doctors responsible for the negligence. Later, the Director, Health Services, UT, marked an inquiry to the Senior Medical Officer to ascertain the cause of the death and asked him to submit a report within three days. The hospital authorities told the attendants of the patient that if they want, they could get the post-mortem done from Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. The authorities said Rajdev Singh, who reached the emergency with the complaints of pain in the shoulder and arm, was immediately attended to by doctors. The condition of the patient deteriorated during treatment. Despite the best efforts by a team of doctors, the patient could not be revived. They said that the police were informed immediately about his death. The relatives said Rajdev was the sole bread earner of the family. He was survived by his wife and three sons.
