Kher inaugurated the bridge in the presence of UT Adviser Manoj Parida and other officers of the UT Administration. After the inauguration, the MP said the project would provide relief to residents of Mani Majra. Kher had laid the foundation stone of the RUB on August 14, 2017. The RUB was a long-pending demand of residents. With the construction of the RUB, the residents will no longer have to wait at the railway crossing for trains to pass. Until now, each time a train crossed, there were traffic jams on either side. The road on one side of the crossing is quite narrow. Once the gates of the crossing open, it takes time for the traffic to normalise. The construction of the RUB at level crossing 126-B has been completed at a cost of 7.25 crore. This comprises a share of Rs 2 crore from the Railway Ministry and Rs 5.25 crore from the UT Administration. The RUB consists of a 5.50-metre wide and a 3.35-metre high passage each for the up and down movement of vehicles. The construction work was completed in two years. There is a water drainage system to avoid waterlogging during the rainy season.
