Special moment — DC for a day

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIESSurinder BhardwajFatehgarh Sahib, December 3Abhijit Singh, a differently-abled student of Government Middle School, Nangla, was made the DC for a day by Fatehgarh Sahib Deputy Commissioner Amrit Kaur Gill here today. Abhijit Singh was taken to the DC office by Jaspreet Singh, Assistant Commissioner Grievances. Amrit Kaur Gill and other officers of the district welcomed him and he was made to sit on the chair of the DC. She said while interacting with participants, he came across Abhijit, who told that he wants to become the DC one day and was working hard. To mark the day, Braille name plates of all officers, including the DC and SSP, were installed outside their offices.

Amrit Kaur Gill and other officers of the district welcomed him and he was made to sit on the chair of the DC. She also sought his advice on various issues. A large number of differently abled students participated in various competitions organised by district administration at the Resource Centre and Jaspreet Singh was the chief guest. She said while interacting with participants, he came across Abhijit, who told that he wants to become the DC one day and was working hard. She said AC(G) rang him up and briefed about the student and she immediately invited him to her office. The DC said the district administration was committed to supporting the differently abled. Their work at government offices will be done on a priority basis. She said the society take steps to ensure self-respect, rights and better living for the disabled persons. Abhijit said it was a proud moment for him and he was thankful to the Deputy Commissioner and AC(G). To mark the day, Braille name plates of all officers, including the DC and SSP, were installed outside their offices.
