Chandigarh, December 6 A half-century each by Arjun Azad and Pratham Singh helped hosts Chandigarh pile up 247 runs against Bihar on the first day of their Cooch Behar Trophy match here today. Put in to bat, Chandigarh did not have a great start as they lost opener Ishan Goyal to Amod Yadav on the second ball of the day. Chiragvir Dhindsa, who scored a double century in the previous match, laboured to a 43-ball six before he was run out in 16th over. Skipper Surya Narayan Yadav did not last long either. He was dismissed by Surya Kashyap on 14 as Chandigarh slumped to 81/3 in the morning session. After the break, Azad, who was looking good to get a century, was removed by Anmol Yadav on 94. While wickets kept tumbling at the other end, Pratham kept his poise and took the hosts close to 250-run mark before he fell on 82 runs. Suraj Rathore was the most effective bowler for Bihar, claiming 4/96. At the close of play, Bihar were batting on 28/0 with Sraman Nigrodh (6) and Piyush Singh (17) at the crease. — TNS
