The Chandigarh administration has made up its mind that the ongoing restrictions are probably the best and there is no need to impose new and fresh restrictions. This whole scenario has been caused to break the chain of coronavirus in the city.
However, one cannot deny that the government isn’t putting in efforts to cure this problem. The issue of imposing fresh lockdown curbs was discussed in Wednesday’s war room review meeting. Unfortunately, the meeting didn’t result in a proper conclusion and no final decision was reached.
UT adviser Manoj Parida said to the media, “We have been following directions of the Government of India. At this stage, restrictions are unlikely to help.”
In the past, over 377 cases of the virus were discovered in the city and for that very reason, now over 24 areas have been declared as micro-containment zones.
The administrator of UT VPS Badnore on Wednesday conveyed his deep concern regarding the rising number of cases. He even suggested that for early decisions of symptomatic persons, the assistance if municipal councilors should be taken.
KK Yadav, who is the Municipal Commissioner has been directed to set up a control room where councilors could call to share information regarding patients in their specific areas to start their treatment. Yadav assured that this will be made operational within a day.
Badnore later went forward by appealing to the councilors to gather as much information as possible about symptomatic and suspected cases in their areas and pass on the information to health authorities which shall further ensure early detection and treatment and reduced fatalities.
Bandore said, “The onus also lies on the citizens to join the battle against COVID. They should join hands with the administration and co-operate,”
Meanwhile, Badnore discussed the statistics of supplies for the city, the central government has supplied 30 additional ventilators to the city: 10 PGIMER and 20 for GMCH-32.
