Covid-19 update: Chandigarh reported highest single day virus related deaths

The UT has 2,537 active cases. As many as 8,049 patients have defeated the virus in the city so far.

Chandigarh on Wednesday reported its highest single day deaths due to Covid-19 as 10 people succumbed due to virus related fatalities, taking the death toll to 137.

The UT also reported 180 new Coronavirus case, taking the UT’s overall infection tally to 10,726.

It had earlier recorded the maximum number of seven deaths on August 30.     

A 46-year-old man from Mauli Jagran died of the virus. He was a diabetic. An 82-year-old man from Sector 15 also succumbed to the infection. He was suffering from the acute respiratory distress syndrome and diabetes.

An 80-year-old man from Sector 36 also breathed his last. A 76-year-old man from Sector 21 and a 75-year-old man from Sector 38, who had severe respiratory infection, also lost the battle to Covid-19.

A 72-year-old man from Sector 47 was brought dead at the GMSH, Sector 16. He tested positive posthumously. A 69-year-old woman from Sector 40 died at the PGI.

A 60-year-old woman from Sector 44 died at the GMCH, Sector 32. She was suffering from tachycardia, a heart disorder having fast heartbeats.

A 47-year-old man from Khuda Jassu, who had post-renal transplant complications and community-acquired pneumonia, also died of the virus. A 53-year-old man from Sector 46 also died due to Covid-19. He had community-acquired pneumonia and was also suffering from severe acute respiratory syndrome.

The city reported 255 recoveries in the past 24 hours.
