E Lok Adalat settles 896 cases in Mohali

Tribune News ServiceMohali December 12Of 2066 cases 896 were disposed of by the e-National Lok Adalat held here today and a compensation of Rs53.33 crore was awarded by different Benches to victims. Cases related to criminal compoundable offences NI Act bank recovery cases MACT cases matrimonial disputes labour dispute land acquisition electricity and water bills (excluding non-compoundable theft cases) service matters related to pay and allowances and retirement benefits revenue and other civil issues were taken up. District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority (DSLA) RS Rai accompanied by Shikha Goel Secretary DSLA took stock of the activities of all Benches at the district headquarters in Mohali. Rai said the judgments by the Lok Adalat were final and binding upon the parties. For the successful organisation of the e-National Lok Adalat Rai had called various meetings of judicial officers presidents and secretaries of bar associations officials of other departments such as banking electricity and labour.

Rai said 12 Benches were constituted at the district headquarters which were presided over by Rajnish Garg Monika Goyal Devinder Kumar Gupta Girish Deepika Singh (all Additional District and Sessions Judges) CJM Amit Bakshi and others.
