‘Andhbhakts Are Not Allowed Here – We Support Our Kisan Brothers’, around 30 shops at a market complex in Mohali’s Phase 3B2 have displayed banners.

A shoopkeeper, Arvinder Singh, described andhbhakts, or blind devotees, as peple who could not apply their minds when it came to certain decisions of the government and, specifically, in the case of the three laws.

The idea was to show anguish against the ruling party at the Centre, originator Rajinder Singh said. “We went to Singhu border a few days ago and we saw farmers living in miserable and tough conditions there. We thought if we cannot spend nights in the severe cold with them on the border, then at least we can shun the policies of those who are supporting the central government blindly,” he said.

He said he was not forcing anyone to put the banners as it was a voluntary mission and those who wanted to display such banners could contact him and get a poster free of cost.

Another shopkeeper, Arvinder Singh, said, “When we can see, understand and analyse that central government is singling out religions and forcing (things) upon others, and also making biased decision, then we believe we must come out in protest in whichever way we can.”

Every shopkeeper in the complex has displayed the banners outside their shop. However, no such banners were visible at any other shop in Mohali.
