Pavitar Singh has been appointed returning officer for the Zirakpur Municipal Council elections. SAD releases listThe Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Friday announced the list of its candidates for the Zirakpur Municipal Council elections. The AAP had announced the names of 18 candidates in the first list followed by six more names in the second list recently. Elections for Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats are scheduled to be held on February 14.

Gaurav Kanthwal Tribune News Service Zirakpur January 29 Huge rush of probable candidates for the coming civic body elections is being witnessed at the Zirakpur Municipal Council for obtaining no dues certificate (NDC). According to the guidelines of the Election Commission candidates and covering candiates are required to furnish the NDC from municipal bodies before filing their nominations for the election. “More than 180 NDCs were issued today. The number of persons seeking the NDC was close to 150 yesterday” said an MC official. Despite being Saturday and Sunday the MC office will be open for the filing of nominations on January 30-31. Pavitar Singh has been appointed returning officer for the Zirakpur Municipal Council elections. As many as 31 wards and 94 polling booths have been set up for the February 14 polls. Voting will begin at 8 am and continue till 4 pm. The filing of nominations will begin on January 30 and end on February 3 followed by scrutiny of forms and withdrawal of nomination till February 5. The counting of votes will be held on February 17. SAD releases list The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Friday announced the list of its candidates for the Zirakpur Municipal Council elections. The SAD treasurer and Dera Bassi MLA NK Sharma announced the names of the candidates for all 31 wards of the civic body. The main contest is likely to be between the SAD and the Congress but the BJP and AAP too will give a tough fight in some wards. The AAP had announced the names of 18 candidates in the first list followed by six more names in the second list recently. Ban on carrying of firearms ammunition Orders have been issued to ban carrying of any kind of firearms ammunition flammable items and sharp weapons such as takuya barsha and trishul within the limits of the municipal corporations municipal councils and nagar panchayats of Mohali district. Elections for Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayats are scheduled to be held on February 14. Ashika Jain Additional District Magistrate Mohali said these orders would be effective from January 29 to February 21.
