Hunger strike in protest against farm laws

Tribune News ServiceMohali January 30A hunger strike was held today at the main gate of Gurdwara Singh Shaheedan in Sohana village during a dharna against the three farm laws passed by the Central Government and the Power Amendment Act 2020. Speaking on the occasion Sanjivan Singh IPTA president said the BJP government had made a big mistake by clashing with farmers of Punjab and passing three farm laws to favour corporate houses. Farmers today were giving a new direction to the people of India he added. People's trust in political parties was shattered and they were mobilising across the country for their rights he said. They urged the Central Government to repeal the three farm laws.

City residents employees unions women and students participated in dharna to revive the farmers struggle on a call given by leaders of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha All India Kisan Khet Mazdoor Sangathan Central Punjabi Lekhak Sabha (regd) IPTA and Peoples Forum. Addressing protesters various spokespersons reiterated their commitment to stand up for Rakesh Tikait and United Kisan Morcha organisations. Speaking on the occasion Sanjivan Singh IPTA president said the BJP government had made a big mistake by clashing with farmers of Punjab and passing three farm laws to favour corporate houses. Farmers today were giving a new direction to the people of India he added. Peoples trust in political parties was shattered and they were mobilising across the country for their rights he said. Karam Sekha spokesperson of the Land Prapti Struggle Committee Punjab said “The BJP has been dividing the country in the name of caste religion and region but workers and peasants struggle has started countdown of this government.” Meanwhile youths displaying placards came out in support of farmers at the Nijjar chowk in Kharar today. They urged the Central Government to repeal the three farm laws.
