Hookah 5 employees of city clubs fined Rs1K each

Ramkrishan UpadhyayTribune News ServiceChandigarh January 30A local court has imposed a fine of Rs1000 each on five employees of different clubs in Sector 26 and Sector 7 here for serving hookah to customers despite a ban imposed by the Chandigarh Administration. After registering the FIR the police arrested the accused as the offence punishable under Section 188 of the IPC read with Section 34 of the IPC was made out against them. In a separate case Ashish Kumar an employee of Qizo Club Sector 26 Chandigarh was also convicted for the same offence. During a checking he was also found serving hookah to customers at Qizo Club Sector 26 Chandigarh in December 2020. Since the accused pleaded guilty with free consent and voluntarily he was held guilty under Section 188 of the IPC read with Section 34 of the IPC and fined Rs 1000.

Ramkrishan Upadhyay Tribune News Service Chandigarh January 30 A local court has imposed a fine of Rs1000 each on five employees of different clubs in Sector 26 and Sector 7 here for serving hookah to customers despite a ban imposed by the Chandigarh Administration. TPS Randhawa Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Chandigarh has pronounced these orders in different cases. As per the prosecution the police found four employees - Jatin Akash Nagpal Vikas and Sandeep Kumar - serving hookahs to customers at Graffo Pub Sector 7-C Chandigarh during a checking on December 22 2020. In view of the Covid-19 serving hookahs was prohibited by the District Magistrate in Chandigarh. After registering the FIR the police arrested the accused as the offence punishable under Section 188 of the IPC read with Section 34 of the IPC was made out against them. On the completion of investigation a challan was presented in the court. Finding a prima facie case a notice of accusation under Section 188 of the IPC read with Section 34 of the IPC was served on the accused to which they pleaded guilty and did not claim trial. They were fined Rs1000 each. In a separate case Ashish Kumar an employee of Qizo Club Sector 26 Chandigarh was also convicted for the same offence. During a checking he was also found serving hookah to customers at Qizo Club Sector 26 Chandigarh in December 2020. After registering the case the police arrested him and the challan was presented in the court. Since the accused pleaded guilty with free consent and voluntarily he was held guilty under Section 188 of the IPC read with Section 34 of the IPC and fined Rs 1000.
