Panchkula gets ODF status for third time

Panchkula January 30The Panchkula Municipal Corporation (MC) has received a certification of being included in the list of open defecation free (ODF) ++ category of urban local bodies for the third time. In a third-party certification carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs the MC has been declared ODF++ for the third time. A team of the Union Ministry had carried out a three-day inspection in the city from January 9 and assessed 32 random locations including slums residential areas commercial areas public areas barren areas water bodies and urinals. The MC Commissioner RK Singh said the ODF++ status would boost Panchkula's ranking in the annual cleanliness survey. Panchkula ranked 54th in the country in the Swachh Survekshan 2020 list released by the Centre in December last year.
