Covid spike Mohali administration advises people to avoid non essential activities

Tribune News ServiceMohali April 18In view of the highest Covid cases of 880 being reported in a day in the Mohali district since the outbreak of the pandemic last year the district administration on Sunday advised people to avoid non-essential activities. He said the district administration was fully prepared as seven big hospitals have been directed to reserve 50 per cent beds for Covid patients. Dayalan said the only long term solution for the Covid was vaccination to improve herd immunity. He said even though the persons who have completed the vaccination will also get infected but it would have lesser impact. He urged all eligible people including the health care workers and the front line workers to come out and get vaccinated.

Tribune News Service Mohali April 18 In view of the highest Covid cases of 880 being reported in a day in the Mohali district since the outbreak of the pandemic last year the district administration on Sunday advised people to avoid non-essential activities. In a video message to the people Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said people have come out of the lockdown imposed last year with great difficulty and they dont want to impose the lockdown again which would not only affect the people but also the industry and business establishments. Dayalan said they have capped gathering in marriages and funerals in the district by not allowing more than 20 people besides imposing night curfew. He said the Covid peak would be for about another two weeks and the people should take proper precautions by not coming out their houses. He said strict enforcements had been imposed for the benefit of the people and added that this year it was seen that the younger people were also infected with the virus.
